CITIZEN ALERT v1.72
FAIR IS FAIR

Lest anyone think I won't take a crack at the DEMS from time to time. The AP released an exclusive article today on Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid collecting $1.1 million dollars in a land deal on some property he owned in Las Vegas, parts of the deal which were not reported to the Senate's Ethics Committee.

Now, I will reserve full cracking for now until Reid fully responds and some kind of investigation unfolds all the facts because to be honest the deal is a little confusing. I'm quite sure at this point the "rezoning" aspect of it is what disturbs me most, but overall, I couldn't tell you exactly what went down from start to finish where you'd understand it.

For this reason I think that it will make it a hard sell for Republicans if they think this will buy them some leverage at the polls in 4 weeks. I will be curious to see if they can condense this land deal into some quick talking points without facts being misrepresented and having the whole thing blow up in their faces.

It doesn't always come down to what he did wrong, but can you explain what he did wrong? Explaining federal land swapping, development rezoning, taxes and profit loss to Middle America is a lot tougher than saying "he's a pedophile" or "he's in jail for taking a bribe". The Republicans have their work cut out for them and I'm curious to see if they actually do run with it. They didn't seem to be on Wednesday but the story came out late in the day and everyone was focused on the plane crash and North Korea. We'll see what happens today.
