CITIZEN ALERT v1.173
MURTHA

All the neocons are real up in arms about Murtha nowadays. Man, oh man, they do not like this guy. They keep trying to spin his plan like it's the DEMS trying to cut off funding for our troops. That's not what Murtha is doing. He's trying to PROTECT our troops from the haphazard way that Bush is fighting his war. They are against this escalation that is true, and some people could view those 21,500 troops as reenforcement thus not supporting the escalations means you're leaving the troops already in Iraq out in a trench somewhere but look at what Murtha is actually trying to do before you go all HBO on me.

His proposal would put four conditions on Bush's war funds through Sept. 30: "The Pentagon would have to certify that troops being sent to Iraq are 'fully combat ready' with training and equipment; troops must have at least one year at home between combat deployments; combat assignments could not be extended beyond one year; a 'stop-loss' program forcing soldiers to extend their enlistment periods would be prohibited."

That sounds pretty responsible to me, and with even REPUBS starting to run to the otherside of the debate on Iraq, I think more and more Americans will start supporting this kind of strategy.

Also, I'm reading that Bush is finally reinforcing Afghanistan, as well as asking NATO to do the same. Could he be FINALLY FINALLY trying to round up Bin Laden before he leaves office? Remember that guy? Oh yeah, the Osama guy!
