CITIZEN ALERT v1.116
QUESTION OF THE DAY

In California, 65% of emancipated foster youth lack stable housing. Ever notice that children "aged out" out of foster care at the exact time that the armed services will take them?

Does anyone know of proposed legislation or alternative programs here in California similiar to ones in states like Iowa where the foster care age is increased to 21 or 22 years old? If you got the time and your home today, Google your brains out and forward me what you find to:

I'm looking for any studies or programs that decrease homelessness by increasing the foster care "age out" limit. You see, a large percentage of homeless people fall into the 18-24 year old bracket. Of the 18-19 year olds, something like 61% are from foster homes and 34% of the 20 and up are also from foster care.

I'll be looking also, let me know what you find.
